The Eastside Church of Christ's teaching is based on the bible teachings following the doctrine that the
first century church practiced, the Apostles' doctrine. The Eastside Church of Christ began out of a vision
in the 1980's that Bro. Cecil Cooper had. He wanted to leave something special before he moved back to
his home in Texas that year. The Milwaukee Brewers had won their division and were trying to move on to
the World Series.

It was a group of saints in 1982 with the Cooper's that met from house to house to discuss starting a
new work on the eastside of town in Milwaukee. This is where the name Eastside Church of Christ came
about. In these meetings the group was instructed not to solicit members from other congregations to
help us in this new work.
In the 1980's this group of saints started Eastside first treasure. On May 30, 1984 the church became incorporated as the Eastside
Church of Christ. It was this group of brethren in the picture along with their wives (who are not pictured) that started the work whose
names are as follows.....

Eastside's first Trustees were as follows....
Bro. James Tucker - Secretary

Bro. Robert McClain - Chairman

Bro. Charles Quarles - Treasurer
All of these Brothers membership by this time was at the Hampton Avenue Street Church of Christ under the leadership of
Evangelist Quiller Harris with his blessing. Before they started meeting at the Parkeast Hotel in 1984.

The Hampton Avenue congregation sent in ministers to help the church. Such ministers as the Britain brothers, Vernal and Kent.
Who would rotate on the preaching to see that the church had worship service on the Lord's Day. On March 7, 1986 the
congregation began meeting at 610 N. Jackson Street in the ParkEast Hotel before buying a building to worship in.

In 1986 Bro. Nathan Johnson was employed as the congregation's first full-time minister. Bro. Johnson baptized some of the first
converts to the church. While services were first being held at the ParkEast Hotel. Bro. Johnson later moved to Arkansas and the
congregation was once again without a minister.

In 1988 the leading brothers Bro. Robert McClain, Bro. James Tucker and Bro. Charles Quarles ended up with the job of preaching
to and teaching the congregation.

In the late Summer of 1988 The church then asked Bro. Robert McClain if he would be willing to take on the work and become their
second full-time minister. He and his wife Delois McClain accepted the offer. Bro. McClain then took on the role as the full-time
minister, preaching during morning and evening services, also teaching on Wednesday Nights. Bro. McClain continued doing all of
the work at the Eastside Congregation without the church paying him for the labor he rendered.

Since the work started there has been over 300 members or more baptized into the body of Christ. Some of these members are
yet at Eastside and other members memberships have been placed in some of the sister congregations and throughout the
brotherhood. Over the years many faithful men have stood in the pulpit of the Eastside Church of Christ. Great Gospel Meetings
were and are conducted in the pulpit.

Such ministers as.....
Evangelist Hupy Miles of Sealy, Texas. Bro. Miles conducted the very first Gospel Meeting in May of 1990.

Evangelist Lawrence R. Wooden of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Evangelist James Glenn of Houston, Texas

Bro. Thomas Reed of Houston, Texas

Bro. Horace Stroud of Houston, Texas

Bro. Larry Fletcher of Houston, Texas

Bro. Mark Thompson of Racine, Texas
These are just a few Great Ministers that helped spiritually to get the congregation where it is today. The Eastside Church under the
leadership of Robert McClain helped train up a number of young Gospel ministers and teachers.

In May 1999 Bro. Robert Mcclain started a Five Step Program. The Five Step Program is based on God's plan of salvation, the Gospel of
Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:17; Faith comes by hearing
John 8:24; Believe
Luke 13:3; Repent
Matthew 10:32; Confess
I Peter 3:20-21; Baptism saves
This program is called the Five Steps. The program was designed for members of the churches of Christ. Who before baptism were
chemically dependent having been addicted to alcohol and drugs. And those that needed Anger Management in their lives.

These people must be willing to follow up with bible studies. The study we is the Search For Truth Lessons. we have baptized many
people into the Lord's Church with these studies.

The church also has two outreach programs....
Tony Lee Sanctuary - Homeless Shelter which began in 2004

Genesis House - Rehabilitation Center for Alcoholics and Drug Abusers which began in 2005.
The congregation also has a Hot Meal Program in place which we feed the Community every 3rd Saturday of the Month, which the
sisters and brothers of the congregation oversee. The Brothers preach a sermon of salvation while the sisters other brethren and the
youth feed the community. This program was started in 1989.

The Genesis Program is where Eastside's facilitators go in and facilitate our Five Step sessions to those people that have come into the
Genesis House fresh off the streets from using drugs and alcohol. We also have been able to turn some of the people's lives and
spiritual lives around, by bringing Christ's and his church into their lives.

It is our goal to teach those that are chemically dependent and with anger the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus said in
Matthews 28:19; Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Teaching them what they must do to be saved and become a member of the church of Christ.

Romans 3:23; says for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Romans 10:17; says faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the word of God.

I Corinthians 15:1-4; Believing how Christ Died, was Buried, and Rose again on the third day according to the scriptures.

Luke 13:3; Teaching them they must repent.

Matthew 10:32; Teaches you must confess Jesus before others.

Acts 2:38; Then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost.
I Corinthians 12:13; Teaches that God's spirit is how one comes into the one true church Paul says for by one spirit are we all
baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free, and have been all made to drink into one spirit.

John 17:20; Jesus prayed that all true believers would be one in him the words of the apostles is what makes the church of Christ
one not man-made doctrines.

Verse 20; Jesus says neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall beleive on me through their word.
